Dental education videos for improved patient care
Most of what keeps teeth healthy happens between appointments — in the two minutes you spend brushing and the minute you spend cleaning between them. The three short videos below cover the questions we answer most often in the chair, and the habits that make the biggest difference to what we find at your next cleaning.
Watch them at your own pace, share them with your children, and bring any questions to your next visit. If you would rather we walk you through any of it in person, just ask — we are glad to.

How to floss
Cleaning between your teeth reaches what a brush cannot: the tight contacts either side of each tooth and the area just beneath the gumline, which is where decay and gum disease most often begin. Technique matters more than force — floss guided gently down and curved around each tooth cleans far better than floss snapped straight down, which irritates the gum without cleaning much. Once a day is enough, and doing it consistently matters more than when you do it.
How to brush your teeth
Most of us learned to brush as children and never revisited it. The usual guidance is a soft-bristled brush angled towards the gumline, short gentle strokes, and a full two minutes twice a day covering every surface — outer, inner and chewing. Pressing harder does not clean better; over the years it wears enamel and pushes gums back. If your brush bristles splay out within a few weeks, that is usually a sign of too much pressure rather than a worn-out brush.
Wisdom teeth know the facts
Wisdom teeth are the third molars, and they usually arrive between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five. Whether they cause trouble comes down to whether there is room for them. Some come through cleanly and never need attention. Others arrive at an angle, only partly emerge, or stay trapped under the gum, where they can crowd neighbouring teeth, trap bacteria in spaces a brush cannot reach, or become painful. An X-ray at a routine visit shows which situation you are in, usually well before symptoms start.
These videos cover general technique and are not a substitute for an examination. If something hurts, if your gums bleed regularly when you brush or clean between your teeth, or if a tooth simply does not feel right, please book a visit rather than waiting it out. Problems caught early are almost always smaller, simpler and less expensive to treat than the same problem six months later.
